Did you know that pregnant women live nearly at the limit of human endurance?

Not all heroes wear capes!

Did you know that pregnant women live nearly at the limit of human endurance??⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Yep, researchers from Duke University studied athletes such as elite runners (we’re talking 3000km +…. not sure who those nutters are though) and cyclists in the Tour De France in a bid to identify the absolute limit of human endurance! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Their research showed that the human body can cope with a maximum energy expenditure of 2.5 times its’s resting metabolic rate (which is on average around 4000 cals). ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What is so interesting about this is that when it comes to pregnant women, at their peak their energy expenditure is around 2.2 times their metabolic rate. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So in a nutshell, growing tiny humans means your body is pushing the boundaries of your human capabilities in a way only otherwise experienced by exceptionally elite athletes! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What’s that? Superheroes? Why yes, I do believe we are 😉 ⁣

Baby development milestone

Baby development milestone
@the_kidsdoctor

Development is a continuous process. It starts in the intrauterine life and continues throughout life.
The maximum development of the brain occurs in the first 5 years of life, more so in the first 2 years of life. Now, development occurs in multiple domains – Motor, Social, Language, and cognition.

It is very important to know what to expect at what age. Obviously, every child is different and they develop at their own pace. But the pattern of development is the same in all babies like the first child sits and then learns to walk, it cannot happen the other way round.

😃 There is always a reasonable range of age at which a particular milestone is achieved. But if your child is not achieving it by then, the developmental delay should be suspected and consultation is warranted as early intervention matters.

😒Causes of developmental delay

👉Antenatal or Birth injury ( baby not cried)
👉Genetic syndromes
👉Metabolic
👉Neuromuscular issues

In this series, I will be posting about the important milestones in all domains.

Key sleep phrases to say when putting your baby to sleep

Key sleep phrases to say when putting your baby to sleep

Key sleep phrases add a last positive association with sleep that babies can hear knowing that this is the last step of the day and it is time to sleep. Key sleep phrases are powerful in nurturing and encouraging a good night’s sleep. Hearing the same sleep phrase every single night gives your baby or toddler a beautiful association with sleep.

Whenever they hear the phrase, they will soon learn and come to know it’s time to fall asleep. The earlier you start with one specific phrase, the better! Check this list and pick out a key phrase, or come up with your own.
